Little Bo Peep...

... has lost her sheep.

Well...

Her dragon anyway.

Not that I'm Bo Peep's Dragon as no one can really own a dragon, but you get what I mean. I think!

Anyways, I've been busy. Some of it has been busy doing nothing and some of it's been busy doing lots of things.

I've written just over 10,000 words towards the fantasy project, covering a pivotal part of the story which is important now, as well as for book three. I do not have much more to do at all before this book is finished. The next scene is another important one as it is building to the climax of the book and I have to tie a few things in together well.

With that in mind since finishing the last major scene I've let myself have a few days off to celebrate and relax while the pixies in the back of my mind formulate the next scene.

In the time I've done some major work on a project I wanted to do for my son-in-law for a belated birthday present and managed to get that in the post on Friday.

Since then it's been feet up and relax. I've read a lot of the third book of the Golden Compass series and fear it will keep me up late again tonight as it nears its climax. I've also played a lot of nintendo. I think I must be square-eyed at the moment from spending so much time playing it!

I've also managed to spend time watering my back garden tonight, as it is saturday and we are allowed three hours to water on saturdays. I always enjoy it. I like the quiet time alone it usually gives me and I let my thoughts roam on a lot of things while the garden gets a good soak.

I've also cooked a bit to tide us over for the next few days. We have quite a fad at the moment for baked spuds, so I cooked up so mince and made a bolognaise sauce with it. Add said sauce to baked spuds, garnish with some grated cheese, pineapple pieces and sour cream and it's really quite yummy. What's more, there was plenty of bolognaise sauce left to use again during the week.

I also cooked up some snags as I love them cold for lunch. I cut up the rockmelon I bought when we shopped on friday so that too is sitting there to have either as part of breakfast or lunch, or a nice healthy snack if I get peckish in between.

There's also some lamb chops either to eat cold or reheat and have with some baked spuds. And a cold chook is in the fridge too! So we have lots of easy food for this week, which will be good as we will be rather busy.

Troll has lots of before-school things to do this week. Shoes to be bought, uniforms items to be exchanged and school fees to be paid. On top of that she has to label all her stationary too, I think. I also want to go over her bus route with her. She's going to be using public transport for the first time and it won't be local as her school is over 40km from here. I know she'll be nervous, so I shall take her over the route she will use and help her learn it. This year is going to be a big year for her as she has to develop a lot of independance to go to this school in the city.

Besides running troll around I want to get stuck in and get some good work done on my writing. I can feel I am in the home straight. Not much more and the first book shall be finished which will be rather a buzz. Well, the first draught of the first book.

I was thinking today actually that I'm rather pleased with my writing at the moment. Unlike many things in my life I'm actually finishing work with it. I began and finished Grubblet's book within a month. I finished the first edit on my australian saga last year. And now I am rather close to finishing this one too. It's a good feeling to have things complete - especially when you are like me, full of good ideas but little stamina to finish them.

Times are also getting exciting and scary for tygrr. She has always said she wanted to get back into being an Ambo (she was an EMT in the states)once her immigration process was done. Well, it's done and work is becoming quieter at the distribution centre where she works so she called the SA Ambulance on friday and asked about joining. Last thing she heard last year they train you as you work.

Apparently all that has changed. Now one has to do a three year degree at University to do be an ambo! Here in australia if you are a mature person (not a school leaver) then you have to sit the Special Tertiary Admissions Test which is conducted once a year about July or August. We also found out she can have some government support (Austudy payment) while she studies of about $355 a fortnight. It's not a lot, but we could manage on that combined with my income.

Still, it's a lot more complicated situation than she expected and at the moment to say she is shitting bricks at the thought of it all is an understatment.

There's a lot to consider about this before a decision is made. Even things such as the global economy could well have a role to play. I mean, if things go how I suspect they will go with the economies we could well be in for another depression. That's not a good time to be trying to find work. Maybe being in a University studying might be a good thing until the money markets settle down.

Either way the news over here is full of stockmarket losses and increasing rentals. It makes me glad that I made the effort a few years ago to get us into public housing where our rent is set according to our income and my tenancy is secure for life.

So, I have an anxious tygrr to reassure that she CAN do this Uni course if she wants to and we also have to weigh it up against our concerns for the employment market over the next few years. Big things are definitely afoot!

So, if anyone has lost me lately, it's because life just now is rather full. Not onerously so, but satisfyingly so.
