[Hiccup's face is pinched with revulsion. The battle took a gruesome turn, played with his heart and tricked his mind and Gods be damned, was just dang nasty in parts.

There's something final about this, though. He felt the Captain's request thumping through him like a heartbeat.

Hands shaking, he raised his pistol. He licked his lips and tried to dredge up the courage to fire.

In the end, he had to close his eyes before his finger would collapse the trigger.

Click.

...

Empty.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFfffffffffffffffffff.]

[Sanya says nothing. There are no more words he feels he can say, at this point.

The big Russian merely pushes past Hiccup, thrusting the butt of his assault rifle towards the boy. He glances down at him, and his voice and accent are thick in his throat.]

Use that.

Take it away, boys! talkingfishbone December 23 2010, 05:44:28 UTC
[Hiccup stares, for once unable to find any words. The huge, dark man will not be questioned.

Even though the rifle is about as large as he is.

Maybe. Maybe just a little questioning.]

A-are you, uhh...gonna stick around and help because...

[He motions to the Largeness Of This Freaking Gun.]

[Sanya pauses in his step. He backtracks to the boy, and gestures to the appropriate parts of the gun as he speaks.]

You put one hand here. Other hand is for squeezing trigger. You point this end at bad thing. Squeeze trigger.

[He waves a hand.]

Bad thing goes away. Got it?

[Normally Remy tends to fight on the defensive and stay at as much of a distance as he can. He's the squishy mage, after all. But this time, this time he feels he can do something. He looks his knife, the one with the hollowed core filled with the blue liquid and makes his choice, charging.

This was the captain. So many passengers would get a misplaced thrill of this. So many blame Redd for this entire thing and hadn't stopped when they learned what had actually happened. Remy had held firm that Redd saved them once he learned their worlds were gone. He'd been right.

He would regret never getting another tea time and that this had to be his goodbye and thank you.]

[He didn't know if it was that his hands were shaking, or if it was the aching heart that made Remy charge instead of throwing his blade, but Vanyel wished heartily that the man hadn't.

Even an inch closer to that thing was too damn close- it was like an ice-drake in its tenacity, and twice as angry.

But he was a Herald, and that he was tapped out meant nothing at all to what had to be done. He raised his hand, augmenting the magical gesture with a physical one because he was exhausted, and struck. Please....please let this be it.]

[This might just be the best day of Jinx's life here on the boat.

For all that time in the brig.
For his foot.
For those unneeded punishments.
For taking him from his friends.

And for this.

If Jinx had ever wanted to brutally murder someone, in front of children included, this would be the time. Running at to the guns, wherever the fuck they are, Jinx replaces his gyro buster with a plasmite rpg. In other words, another big fucking gun.]

Ya' knew this was comin, ya' little fucker! Wanna know what it's like ta' lose a limb?!

[And Jinx aims to shoot his arm clean off.]

[The sudden rush towards the captain leaves him startled and confused, and he's certain there's no way he'll be able to get close enough to strike from up close. So instead, Link equips his bow and nocks a light arrow, pulling it taught and holding and quickly firing at the captain before the risk of hitting a passenger becomes a problem.]

[Sacrifice.

Torn knows what it looks like, and he knows he's looking at it now. Between all the confusion and all the secrets and all the puzzles he never had the time to figure out, he decided after speaking to the Heron--now dead Heron--that he would throw his lot in with the ship and its crew.

Seeing the look of pride on Redd's face, a small part of him might just be pleased that he did.

The loss of his fingers means his balance is altered. He can't dual wield, and he can't brace a single gun properly, not the way he used to. But Torn's always been adaptive, so he's adapted. A picture perfect shot? No. But he fires, and balance shifted or not, his aim is still true.]
