[After several of the passengers had broken the emergency glass panel in the Captain's command deck, the Elegante slowly, slowly begins to move again. But it's not a smooth journey. In fact, she seems to vibrate and shake as she lurches along, and with every inch further every passenger will feel more tired, more shaken and exhausted, as if their ( Read more... )

[Well, at least she was right. It looks like the transdimensional thingy was a bad move. She doesn't need to feel guilty about trying, at least.]

Fuck.

[It's not really a relief.]

[You'll find out soon enough Hiccup, since the boat is sinking at a rapid rate!]

[ARE YOU SERIOUSLY FOR REAL, BOAT. REALLY. REALLY, FOR REAL. YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU ARE REALLY DUMB. This sucks. This isn't fair, after all that they just went through-- ICEBERGS ARE NOT THIS MUCH OF A PROBLEM AT HOME. It's not so much a panic as Sokka is thinking of everything that could help in this situation-- what they could grab onto, how strong of swimmers they are, how heavy their clothes will be, how cold the water could be-- house made of ice, waterbender for a sister, survival techniques in cold climates-- a dozen different thoughts, none of them helping the sudden and violent realization--

Jim can't swim.

Sokka grabs the other teen's shirt and glances at Hiccup before STARING at Jim.]

Okay, so, first lesson of swimming?

Don't sink.

[Oooooh jeez. Oh crap oh crap oh crap nonono no sinking. Boat, what what, what are you doing. Look at your life, look at your choices, IS SINKING REALLY THE BEST CHOICE HERE.

It obviously is because the boat is continuing its endeavor into iceburg-seppuku.

And Jim is terrified.

Swimming. Swimming, that one thing he never learned on Montressor and didn't learn here (half-sinking in the caves? Doesn't count). Welp. Now he didn't have much choice in the matter and Sokka looked like he wasn't going to give him much choice either.

His life. Why. But he swallows hard and nods to his friend. Oh please let them not die.]

[Asuka flees to the top deck to see what's going on.

And then he stops.

And stares]

There's so much water...

[Does he realize the ship's sinking yet? Nope, no, he does not.]

[Okay, so you've given Asuka a bit of time to get used to the idea that holy shit, there is a crazy ridiculous amount of water about him. By this time, everybody else has noticed that the boat is sinking, and although Asuka doesn't know how a boat can sink (then again, he never really understood how a boat could float, either), he realizes that people around him are freaking the fuck out because of it. He hears Maia's announcement about there being land a short distance away--you know what this means?

It means it's time to get the hell off this swaying metal deathtrap! Awesome!

Only he's going to make sure that he's not leaving anyone else behind, either. Time for Asuka to be a loud, obnoxious brat!]

ANYBODY WHO CAN'T SWIM OR GO IN THE WATER--COME HERE! WE'LL FIND A WAY TO GET EVERYBODY OUT OF HERE.

[And Asuka waits.]

I'm too heavy. I'll sink.

[Asuka nods to Matt with a grin.]

All right, then let's make something you can ride to the shore.

[He points to the iceberg.]

We're gonna lop off the top of it and ride it the rest of the way there!
