I had planned to leave early for work but just couldn't drag myself out of bed at 6 am. Even managing an upright state 30 minutes earlier than usual wasn't helpful, as I bagged the recyclables for storage. So I arrived just in time to see the 'early' bus pass by. Not truly an issue, I thought, as I still needed change for the fare. I headed into the corner store only to be faced with the notice that their license for food, drink, and gum sales was temporarily revoked due to issues with a water heater.
Undeterred, I made my way to the Burger King down the street. I ordered a "Ham Omlet Sandwich" and received enough change to make exact fare. The sandwich, though -- egg & ham, yes, on a regular hamburger bun, this was acceptable. The honey, however, was quite an unpleasant shock.
I made it to work at my usual time only to promise a report to my superior in half an hour, not realizing it would actually take three times that. She's very understanding, however, and the only pressure was internal. The only other downside to the day was learning that the paychecks would be delayed yet again.
But I have arrived home safely, with all limbs intact and with enough in my pocket to pay for bus fare tomorrow. I will take that as a win.
