...before hamsterwoman left Belgium and before I forgot and crashed for the day.  sunnytyler001 may want to weigh in - probably to say, "why on Earth are you talking about this?!"  XD

Anyway, I was having a convo online about Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday and randomly mentioned Groot. A Dutch-speaker remarked that everyone dropping Groot into English sentences right ( Read more... )

I haven't seen it yet myself, but a lot of people have raved about it and it's been getting really good reviews. I have heard that it's a very "dude" movie, which may not be a completely bad thing for you, haha. Not sure if there is a lot of bromance like in Captain America 2, though.

I have heard that the percentage of female audience was very high. Also, journalists seem very surprised that it is a huge success, which was completely obvious to me by how good the trailers are. Action, humour, a team (I prefer team movies to solo movies, and Cap 2 can definitely count as a team movie despite the title), novelty (in an ocean of remakes, reboots, sequels and prequels), what's not to love!

It's probably the same journalists that are surprised when a black-led or women-led movie in the US does good business. I honestly think a lot of reporters are morons or are being obtuse on purpose for the sake of getting an extra story out of it.

But GoTG is set up to appeal to a wide amount of people, even though I've heard some sketchy things about James Gunn's involvement with the script. I guess since there's not a big-name male superhero the journalists were worried that the typical male moviegoer demographic wasn't being overly catered to. *eyeroll* They should really save their surprise in case Antman does well. That movie seems cursed, but the cast involved might be able to save it, dunno.

Imagining him saying "I am vast" is quite... almost romantic, isn't it? Like. Yes, Groot. You are. You are vast and you show your vastness in your capability of being so much more than a talking tree. But it's also 2 AM and I'm drunk. So.

But would he say "I am vasty"? A question for the ages.

I hope you are drinking water. Pace yourself! <3

I assume it was just an error in translation which Groot, being the wise old tree that he is, would know to correct. ;)

Yeah, I'm good! I have food and non-alcoholic liquids.

I think "error in translation" is an apt description of Google Translate. Everyone was cackling at what it did with English and Russian in Kay's Russian refresher post recently.

I still remember an awful hangover I had from red wine (worst headache ever), so I'm all about drinking water and eating something with alcohol in my old age. I am glad you are not following in my uninformed footsteps.

XD

I have played this for B, and he stared at the screen with a horrified expression, wanting to know why -- why I know about this, why this exists, why I was inflicting this on him.

So, mission accomplished, LOL? XD

Yes, mission accomplished! XD B is just finding out what he has missed in Belgium entertainment since he moved. Singing superheroes!

I haven't looked for a video where she is breathing fire or levitating tents, but now I sorta want to.

I am debating showing this to my niece since she wouldn't be opposed to a pink superhero and she's in the target age range, but I dunno. I've showed her a scene from a Hindi musical before, why not a superhero show in Dutch?
