My experience with other LJ games it that's general how it's done... something is either marked as an open post where anyone can join in or as a closed post, just for those it was set up to support. However, for the episodic plot-based format, single post works well. I think that for the approach we've taken with this game, single plot posts are a good idea, but maybe spreading them out a bit?for instance, if two characters say 'lets talk about this later' perhaps a separate post for those two to talk about it while the rest of us continue trudging along.
But, that then causes us to introduce the idea of Bendytime...
There is a benefit to single thread; others are more likely to read it, and therefore respond. Kind of six of one, half dozen of the other, really.
I think it makes continuity a bit harder to track, but maybe I'm the only one who keeps myself willfully ignorant of what other characters are doing when they're out of my scenes. It certainly would make post notification easier (since grandchildren don't trigger notices 6_6) If we were going to switch to that sort of system I would want a header of some sort indicating location so I could enjoy my limited information.
I don't have any strong opinions on this. As has been noted, this is actually how it's normally done on LJ games (although we are not really making character journals so whatever), so I'd be OK with this.
Um, as you could guess by the fact that it's been over a week since you put this up... I don't have a strong opinion on this. But maybe put each location in its own entry, but not each post as its own entry?
