Finally!

After calling dibs on going through all my "to donate" fabric, Sis and Niece will be here Friday (if I haven't just jinxed it by typing it). But I've still been busy going through other things. I tackled the office today and realized besides my 2 computers and peripherals, the room looks like the Island of Misfit Tech Toys ( Read more... )

Nice! Sounds like you've been productive.

I need to do a run to the electronics recycling place as well - I have a few laptops from the office that didn't make it to the recycler yet, plus an old tivo and I should go through the giant bin of wires and get rid of the ones that aren't useful.

Oh - and I need to figure out if the half dead string of lights can be resurrected, or added to the pile of recycling.

The list doesn't really get any shorter, does it?

It does not. I have this bad habit of making lists for each room and always seem to add to it while I'm chipping away at one or two items at the top. After posting I also noticed an old portable cassette player that still works and a mini camera that most likely just needs a new battery. I feel like a magnet for all these misfit tech toys.

Aw, how active you ladies are ;-)!
Well done.

(After moving last year, I am still enjoying my much reduced hoard up here. And I've kept my beautiful old flatbed scanner, even if it can only be connected to the new macbook by cheating a bit ;-p.)

It's the same with me. Cleaning out the shed last summer really started it. Now in the house going through all the closets just adds to the 'to-do' and project lists. I too intend to keep my flatbed scanner as there are just times when my little Scan Snap just seems too time consuming one at a time ( ... )

As a big fan of tension rods I understand your bafflement ;-). Still, if yours are anything like ours - always a bit of a gamble, I'm afraid - you can just dismantle it and start again from the other side.
Take the "feet" off, the inner rod out, while carefully catching the spring inside. Then drop spring and rod back in on the other end and you'll once more get all the range.

Of course, getting new things is always fun, too :-D!

A full length mirror sounds luxurious and beautiful. Will we get any pics... ;-)?

(Have you thought about creating a mosaic out of those shells, in plaster? Those can turn out awfully nice. Only works with smaller shells, of course.)

Oops, too late. Already got a new one that's white rather than beige. Going to keep those instructions though, thanks!

At some point there will be a photo of that mirror, but it's really not that special, it's beveled and has its age spots but most of the weight is the heavy but simple wooden frame. It was Al's and I have no idea where he got it.

That's a great idea since most of those shells are bigger but there are some little ones too. So then, that's added to my list of projects however far down the list.
