Yesterday was not a good day... :-(

Catching up with emails last Monday at work , I was greeted by this email from the cat shelter I’m currently focused on:

Hi,

Gemma (this the foster carer of one of the cats I visited) said that you were looking at lots of cats so I don't think it will be worth my while in visiting you if you are going to take a ( Read more... )

Haha, nooooo... LJ played unexpectedly up on me & whilst fiddling with the problem, work blocked my access. That's how my Fridays generally start! ;-P

I get that they need to be selective about who they give cats to, but this is just bonkers! It's like they don't want the cats to be re-homed.

When people who want to adopt cats have to jump through all these hoops just to get a home visit, let alone be allowed to have a cat, it's no wonder people just give up and buy from a pet shop, who don't seem to particularly care where the cats go.

It does feel like there's a constant, ongoing requirement to prove 'true intent'. I remember with Mayhew what really got to me was that they put me through weeks of email exchanges, but once I got Happy they didn't do a single home check afterwards. It made it feel that they were doing it on routine, but once cat was out of their hands it was 'history' (besides vet check 6 months later). I wasn't impressed..

It also strikes me it would be far less harrowing for all parties if they'd be more easy going to start off with, then come & do an 'after-check' if wanting to be sure everythings gone alright.

Ah!Haha, here I thought you were teasing me for my incomplete post. :-)

Yes.. first email could have been a misunderstanding/rushed writing only, but by the second email incident (this after several upbeat and very friendly emails from me) I just felt like I was beating against the wall. Proper post (with a full end to the story!) up now.
