Gah! I totally have pre-ordered it. Let's see, when Feast For Crows came out, he'd made us wait FOUR bloody years for it, and it had been split into two books: Feast For Crows and Dance With Dragons because of length. So basically, this new book had already been written, and approved for publishing, yet we still had to wait until July of this year for it ( ... )

I did indeed see that. xD I actually really need to go back and read all the books again, because I read them a really long time ago and a lot of details are very sketchy. Hence I'm not really sure whether the show is measuring up to the books. :p It's certainly very graphic though; a lot more violent than I expected, actually, because I thought they'd want to try and make it palatable to a broader audience.
My one gripe (and I have the same gripe about True Blood) is the random gratuitous sex scenes with no relevance to the plot, but hey. I'll tolerate them.

I like that she hasn't succumb to either trope. Warrior women are all well and good, but I really appreciate femininity so I like women who are both strong and feminine. Too often femininity is sacrificed and women are portrayed as "mannish" because apparently women can't be strong without behaving like a man. :(
