if you ever get to chicago, the UChicago special collections have large amounts of pictures of the columbian exposition, it was held on the same location as the current UChi campus.
UChi used to be known as 'grey city' because it replaced the 'white city,' it's buildings were stone while the expositions were stucco.
There are a lot of things that I would have liked to have had time to see in Chicago, but I never had any daytime to explore. I really love so much of the architecture there. Perhaps we'll go back there for a visit someday, if Chris starts feeling nostalgic about grad school.
