Strange birds

What a strange thing. A few minutes ago this female robin flew full velocity into the second story window of my office. I went downstairs and outside to she if she'd been killed instantly or was badly injured, and she was sitting on the sidewalk, stunned. She wasn't bleeding and didn't appear to have any broken bones. So I brought her inside and

The wind is causing problems for birds today. Earlier this morning I watched a small flock of starlings get literally tossed all over the place as they tried to lift off out of our yard.

Poor miss robin. She's probably only stunned--I don't think a strike like that would be enough to cause serious damage. But certainly a hell of a shock for her.

At least four more birds have hit the window since then, but not as hard, and they've all flown off immediately. I think this one will probably be okay, but she's not indicating any readiness to leave yet, which is just fine since she's safe where she is.
