You've seen me mention letterboxing, yes? Where I go off and find boxes that are hidden in various areas by following clues? Inside each box is a rubber stamp and a logbook. I have my own signature rubber stamp and logbook. I stamp my stamp inside the box's logbook and the box's stamp inside my logbook.
Postal letterboxing is the same basic idea, except the rubber stamp and logbook are in an envelope and sent through the mail. A postal letterboxing ring is when there is a group of people who carve rubber stamps based on a theme and then mail them around to each other. A bit dorky, but it's fun getting non-bill and junk mail.
