I spent my weekend watching Teen Wolf. So many people on my flist couldn't stop talking about how good it is I figured I'd give it a shot. So, thanks to Netflix, Hulu Plus, and TWC On Demand, I'm all caught up and ready for tonight's new episode.
So, Teen Wolf. Once I got over the fact I was willingly devoting time to watching a show called Teen Wolf and then further got over the fact that I was willingly watching something on MTV, I realized that it's not a bad show at all. It's quite good. I like almost all the characters (which is unheard of really, everyone on this show is pretty likable) and those characters I don't like usually die, which is great. And they pace it really well, so it doesn't feel like things are ever dragging on and on. And for me, who had to get through almost three whole seasons in order to catch up, it was engaging enough that I didn't want to stop watching, to the point that I hardly slept all weekend. I finished episode 310 at 5 this morning and promptly crashed.
The only bad thing about watching a show all at once like that is that there are certain aspects of the show I don't get too stressed about because I didn't have to wait a week to see what happened next. But sometimes the waiting to see what happens next puts me off, and I've ditched many a show because I just can't be bothered to wait for the drama to play out. That said I like the show enough now that I'm willing to wait for the next episode and, if there's a fourth season (and there had better be), I'm pretty invested in it.
One other thing about this show is I have no desire at all to read fanfic about it. It'd probably annoy me. I get the feeling people ship Derek/Stiles, which I do not see at all. Sure they're funny as hell together and if Derek and Stiles had to spend an entire ep together it would be the best thing ever, but that does not translate to romance to me. Sorry, just don't see it.
Now characters:
Scott and Stiles: Scott's so adorable. And cute. And so determined to do the right thing always. He's grown a lot over the course of the show and I'm interested to see where this whole True Alpha thing takes him. Stiles is also adorable. Love him. Love his relationship with his Dad. Love his relationship with Scott. There's not anything about Stiles I don't like.
Derek: I always want to give Derek a hug. He's so tortured bad boy with a heart it's ridiculous. I think he's been alone so long he does not know what to do with people. He needs friends and I'm pretty sure if he'd just trust a little bit things would go better for him. Also, Tyler Hoechlin is hot and I could stare into his eyes for hours.
Peter: I love Peter. And I don't want him to have some agenda that will end up with him being killed because I want him on the show being all sarcastic and sinister forever and ever and ever. Because Peter is the best. And I like him morally ambiguous. Ian Bohen is hot. I thought he was pretty good looking first season, but dude is so scorching hot this season that I just cannot take it. He doesn't even have to talk, I'm pretty sure I'd watch him walk down the street. Or read a book. Or lean against walls. Also, I think I ship Peter/anybody.
Lydia and Allison: Love them also. Allison's grown a lot, coming into her own. And I'm glad that Lydia has gotten over hiding who she is and is just being herself.
I seriously love everyone on this show. Scott's mom and Stiles' Dad. Dr. Deaton and Allison's Dad. Isaac and Danny (straight up, I adore me some Danny), even that fucking idiot coach, who is so ridiculous and over the top you can't help but find him amusing. Hate that Boyd is dead, because I liked him too (and his death really tore Derek up). And the people I didn't like are dead or gone. I hated that Kate bitch and took great pleasure in watching Peter tear her throat out (and seriously, she deserved it). Hated Jackson and they finally shipped his ass off to London, really was happy about that. Allison's mom was a scary bitch and they killed her off. So really, everyone I hate on this show goes away and that doesn't happen enough on television. Usually, they kill off my favorite characters (Eureka, I still hate you for killing off Nathan, you bastards).
There is really not much to dislike about this show. I'm glad I took the time to check it out.
