Early in the morning from the city, a walk by harlem meer and a few laps across lasker pool.
From the lab a szechuan lunch and a group photo (that I had photoshopped half a dozen people into) printed and framed up.

Wrapping up work, it's my last day. I have one notebook left with the hastily scribbled table of contents that needs to be entered into the Uber-excel table of contents then I'll be done with two years of work. Two days ago one of my coworkers saw a police car knock over a motorcycle with a man and woman on it. Then the officers got out and started beating the man. From what my coworker said the man was Latino and not obviously aggravating the police. Maybe he had been running away ( Read more... ) -

Lightning heats the air fast to make a sonic boom, so why does it sometimes roll, sometimes crackle? Why did the lightning storm over Manhattan today slash the sky so quietly? I listened for thunder and it might have been the ambient noise but I didn't hear it. -

My first July in the city I was alone on a rooftop, my second I was in a crowd huddling under umbrellas, gossiping, giggling socializing on a friend's patio, and the third? I need leaving rituals and coming rituals. Tonight is my first night at a new place. My apartment and home of two years is in general disarray with the flotsam papers of that time swirling around with the under bed dust. It will take at least another day to clear them out. My church small group formally closed about two weeks ago-- I've been going each week for bible study, hanging out, and personal prayers for about a year now. It's a hard thing because people become emotionally invested in one another like family, and that can be painful among young transients often pulling or drifting in different directions.
