i have somehow almost fallen into this bizarre trap of thinking that this is a test, yes, &that i just have to pass it. so silly! we're almost done &then we're allowed to live. real life. that's how i'm thinking/feeling/trying to function. but we can do it.

i don't think it is ever beneficial for anyone to hide their personal views -- especially not just for the sake of not insulting someone. the reason? because it only confuses you, the one who's hiding her beliefs. you end up hiding them from yourself in the process of hiding them from others, so that when you're asked, "what is your opinion on this and why?" you get confused -- you can hardly even answer the question at all, because you realize that you've become someone whose very being is malleable.

i say this from experience, which is why i feel free to say this. that and i care about you.

Thank you, friends, for your response. I think you're both right...this is a test, even if its not one from G-o-d. And in line with Heather's insight, I will continue now to write more for this paper, even if it's (fact-based) opinion because I believe it and I am preparing myself to defend my beliefs... I'm afraid even academic confrontation makes me nervous! -C
