I'm totally with you on the 'filling in the blanks in my history education' thing. High School is wasted on the young...I would love to have somewhere to go a few hours a week to learn things for free. I feel like I could actually enjoy things like; Mathematics and it's connection to Philosophical Thought...or, History and Historical Persons (I'm getting progressively more interested in the first hand narrative). Those things were completely lost on my as a student...however I still don't want to get into a bathing suit for 3rd period and I would still skip the assembly.

I want to add, I have found that the more I learn about our history, the less significant our current problems seem. I find it sort of soothing to realize that we have made these mistakes over and over again, in one way or another.
