Ditto. To everything you said. I own Dead Man and have watched it probably 10 times. It's good for a pilly evening on the couch with a boy who will inevitably fall asleep right around the time Crispin Glover makes his appearance. This movie, all the way through, looks like a beautiful, still, medium format photo...only animated.
Favorite elements: Nobody (he who talks loudly, saying nothing), Thel (the chaste, paper-flower selling prostitute), Iggy Pop and Billy Bob as a family of settlers (Philistines are dirty, dirty people...How do you get your hair so soft? I kint do nothing with mine. It's just like old barn hay...I kint drink the whiskey like I used ta could. Burns like hellfire. Gives me the shits ever time), and the bounty hunter who won't shut up was so sweet and doomed from the start of his ride with the cannibal, and the inhabited Makah village was magical.
