I don't understand how politicians are so often so bad at politics.

If Mark Penn had called me a few weeks ago and said, "hey, so we're thinking that no matter what happens on Super Tuesday, we're just going to take February off and cool our heels on this whole campaigning thing until Texas and Ohio, what do you think?" I could have told him it sounded like a good way to lose an election.

But he didn't call me. Oh well.
