I don't read Katniss/Peeta often (burned too many times with badfic, since they're so popular), but I trusted you to get it right and you so did. Your Peeta is just perfect.

I know what you mean about the badfic--I've read tons too--and yet cannot get away from this pairing for some reason.

Ouch. But ouch in such a well-written way. This is great headcanon, though--it explains why Katniss would be so reluctant later to try again, and it actually pulls off the crazy notion of Katniss and Peeta discussing it like adults.

Haymitch is also about to show up and put the smack down on Peeta, too, I think. Still playing.
