WoW: World of Warcraft Open Beta Ends

Nov 19, 2004 01:12

While I was waiting to recover from my wisdom teeth extractions and for the pain to abate somewhat, I have been spending my time playing in the World of Warcraft (Wow) open beta (OB). As open betas go, it wasn’t too bad but I have seen better. OB only lasted around a week, wish it had been longer, and much of that time the servers (in particular ( Read more... )

WoW sucks. It's all flashy and exciting the first 20 levels but then it just becomes shit.

Maybe, I didn't get that far cause they keep shutting down my server!!! But what I play, I enjoyed.

It's too easy to level up. I played a few hours a day each day during the summer and got level 50 (when it was the max level) in about 3 weeks. Then I leveled another character to 60 (you can see a pic of me when I was 55 and 50 on my journal). I don't know why I did that. I guess I had high hopes for the game. There are too many problems with it and I won't bore you with the details.

Well, it's all about game play and what you like. I agree with you about it being easy to lvl up. Lots of people didn't like that but some do. Personally, I am a slow lvler cause I have to do every quest, craft everything to the highest lvl, explore; basically I am anal. But, that's how I choose to play. I play for fun and don't care about being as high a lvl as possible as soon as possible. So, the game being easy to lvl didn't bother me. It allowed me to not be an "OMG I have to run now cause all these things are going to kill me in two hits" player while still getting to do the other things I like to do in an MMORPG.

If the game had been harder to lvl I would have enjoy it just as much, though. It's harder to lvl in EQ2 so that game is prolly more to your liking. If you really want a hard lvling game, I suggest Lineage II.

BTW, I am prolly not going to purchase Wow but go with EQ2. I think I like EQ2 better. But I still don't think WoW is a bad game.

I did every quest (I was horde, there were way less quests at the time and it was much slower to level) and I had mastered about 5 tradeskills (which are now called professions and capped at two). My /played time was approx 10 days when I hit 50. I also had every area explored, including alliance areas. In the end I just sat my Shaman in stormwind and dueled everyone and never lost. Eventually GMs got pissed at me and banned me from Stormwind and put extra guards in there. WoW also lacks immersion. It's all instanced, and it's all soloable. Why would I want to play an online single player game ( ... )

Like I said, I am a slow player. I hope you enjoy Guild Wars. I also played in Lineage II beta and thought the game sucked, but if you are looking for a game that will take long to lvl that game will do it. I want to point out that many people think that lvling in EQ sucks (too slow). I never thought that, but it seems a lot of people like easier lvling ( ... )
