I seem to be very random these days. So why should this be any different?
LJ-cuts to spare you ...
My son started a new job today - of the full time with benefits variety. Finally. And I've noticed that he's not that much different now that he's a grown up, than he was when he was little. I ask him the usual Mom-questions... ('So, how was your day?" Rinse. Repeat.) and he says "Fine." Argh. It's like pulling teeth to get information out of him.
I bought more Christmas/Holiday cards today even though I have many left from last year. Because I'm afraid I'll send the same cards to the same people I sent them to last year, and that prospect gives me an irrational sense of dread.
Hubby and I had two parties to go to yesterday - after the potluck lunch at Church which came after the Christmas pagent. L. read parts of the Christmas story in the pagent, sang and played the Coventry Carol on trumpet. Well, I think it was the Coventry Carol anyway - LOL! It's always nice to see the kids reading and singing. Then Hubby and I made merry the rest of the day. I used to be able to do that and it didn't phase me. Now? Sheesh. We slogged in and collapsed in two big heaps before turning in. Getting old? Bleargh. But I enjoyed the parties while they were going on.
The hordes have finally disbursed. We had nine people staying here this weekend. The house is trashed and I don't even know where to *start* detrashifying it. Seriously, i like having them all around, but when there are other activities and insufficient maintenance, it gets out of hand. So now, I have to shovel out the mess, I have presents to wrap and cards to finish writing and I just spent *another* $80 (after using my gift card from the 'rents) in yet another bookstore before coming home this evening. I bought my step-brother the 70th Anniversary edition of Monopoly. I bought my Dad a collection of Charles Darwin's works. I bought my stepmom the series of Hercule Poirot DVDs. I bought my son and his step-brothers (and me) Monty Python - "The Holy Grail" which is one of the funniest fu*king movies ever. What would I do without friggin' Borders and Barnes & Noble? I'd probably have to spend time at the Mall amongst the cranky holiday shoppers. *shudders*
I've just eaten an entire tin of homemade Christmas cookies and pralines. A small tin , but still. My sister made them - or bought them from someone who did, and OMG - so good. But now I feel sick.
And it's only Monday. Whee!

margotlefaye's recent post. It's hard for a furry friends this time of year too. If you can spare a little something to help out some caring people, I'm sure they'd really appreciate it.
