Yeah, managing the pain was my biggest issue. At this point, it's not about addiction and what might happen in the future--it's all about making the patient comfortable.

So Mom's pain was significantly diminished last night, and I'm grateful for that.

There's no need for her to suffer more than absolutely necessary. Glad to hear she's more comfortable now.

And determined to take charge from a prone position. Which is way better than two days ago when she was drugged out, but has its own issues in terms of "No, Mom, you can't live unassisted at home." when she doesn't want to hear that.

I hope that the palliative care talks are useful. All best to all of you in this tough time.

Thanks. It's going to be hard to convince Mom that a temporary stay in a nursing home, while we ready the house for her, is the best decision. (And luckily, we have a sibling with his own nursing business who caters to geriatrics. So grateful for that aspect and his expertise.)

Yeah. Hard decisions all around here, Not sure if they're any easier or harder than what you've been through. But we're going to have to argue more, I think, since Mom's so stubborn.

*hugs right back at you!*

Thanks! Right now, we're all about getting Mom to figure out that the interim step (before she can get home to 24-hr. care here) is a rehab facility, so she can at least get herself up from bed independently. (One step at a time with a very stubborn woman. And here I thought I got my stubbornness from Dad. Ha.)
