Spooks 7x04

Well I think I can safely say that this episode was more plot focused than character focused.  I must say that I liked this episode.  It was very thought provoking.

And how does this episode start - with a shot of Lucas (and his legs!) walking down a tunnel!

Firstly the bulk of the plot:  Al Qaeda speaking to MI5.

I agree they did a very good job of making Khordad an almost sympathetic character, and I get so annoyed when they kill off such characters after only a few episodes! Kachimov too; he was such a great villain. It would have been very interesting to see development in both of these characters - Kachimov as a reluctant double agent, Khordad as a dubious middleman. But then, not. Whatever.

I really liked Jo in this episode too. Plot and all aside, she looked gorgeous.

I get so annoyed when they kill off such characters after only a few episodes! I know! It would have been great to see more of Khordad and how the team dealt with working with him. Kachimov I didn't like so much, but any kind of tentative alliance with Khordad would have been very intriguing.

I've noticed that Jo's been getting a bit more attention. She got a bit more in last night's episode too. And she did look gorgeous.

Oh, I just realised they cut a totally amazing Jo scene in 7.03! Sorry, you probably didn't want to hear that. :D

I'm beginning to accept that there's bits that I've missed. It just makes me want to rewatch everything when I get my hands on the DVDs!

Khordad was pretty well-written. Waves the same banners as the stereotype suicide bombers, but articulates his convictions with a good deal more intelligence; even acknowledges that sometimes the means to their end is directly detrimental to their cause (re: Iranian war missiles). Not everyday we get this sort of characterisation on our tv shows.

Poor Harry looked like he was going to pop a vein in this scene!... -- Can't ever remember Harry actually shouting at someone. Most of the time, his anger just seems to simmer and he's all repressed and stoic about it.

Essentially it’s either Lucas dies or dozens of civilians die. And when Ros answered "Then there's no choice at all", I couldn't help laughing even though I was slightly mortified that she was being so mean pragmatic. Oh, Ros ( ... )

Khordad articulates his convictions with a good deal more intelligence - exactly. I wish we got more of this level of characterisation.

Can't ever remember Harry actually shouting at someone. Neither can I actually. But this time, I think Harry was just so frustrated at not knowing what Khordad wanted and not knowing what to do!

Ros answered "Then there's no choice at all"! I thought that comment by Ros came out a bit too quickly. She didn't even try to think of any other options did she? Oh dear.

I have a feeling the broadcast had cut one scene. Argh! I hate missing bits - especially the tatters of Lucas and Elizabeta's relationship. Borders is advertising season 7 for $45 this week, compared to EzyDVD's $60 - I might just have to buy it!

Disagree somewhat with the stripes!! *is shocked* Once a certain level of gorgeousness is reached, nothing can diminish it! But because you added a ;) I've friended you.

I wish we got more of this level of characterisation. - Khordad's an interesting contrast to Marlin as well. Patriotic yet not narrow-mindedly so, has nationalist motives, and is an enemy that turns out to be a friend - quite the opposite of Marlin. But I feel compelled to add that on first viewing, his teeth were a little distracting. *g*

Borders is selling it cheap! I'm still waiting for the UK release before I buy the Australian set; just to see if there are any differences in DVD features, extras, etc.

*cowers* Have I awoken some slumbering beast? I didn't mean to ! (Though I thank you for the friending.) RA pretty much ignites anything you put him in, but I thought they could've picked a more subtle suit. Or is it the tie?

His teeth were a little distracting! Were they? I didn't even notice. Distracting good, or distracting bad?

My DVD player can't do multi-region so it's either Australian or nothing for me. The Borders sale is on for a couple of weeks yet, so I've got time to consider. Are there usually any differences between the Australian and UK DVDs? (Please don't tell me the ABC is cutting stuff again again!)

No beasty here! RA pretty much ignites anything you put him in! That is so true. I can't think of any exceptions at the moment. And I'm leaning towards it being the tie. It's very bold. But it's also very 'finance', so I suppose it fits.
