If used in context I would grok immediately. I hope. (I looked it up, and yes it looked familiar.) It's definitely not jargon.

True, context would have helped. The sentence is something like "Discuss what information is provided in the photographs on page 12 and what information is in the running text." So yes, most people could figure that out I think!

Thanks for your input (and, it's been interesting to find out who's worked in this field and stuff... :) )
