Lana had handwavily invited everyone still playing a bunch of people to stop by on Sunday to help decorate and celebrate the upcoming holidays. She'd also told her friends to invite along anyone else they might want

Duce had heard about the party at Lana's, and was feeling both social and festive. Unable to think of an appropriate hostess gift, she settled on an old stanby - when in doubt, bring booze. Little plastic dixie cups nestled in disposable Gladware containers like bright, edible jewels. Red, green, and clear jelloshots jiggled as she made her way to the door. Duce was amused at the jello - the red was cherry, the green was apple, and the clear was orange. She'd mixed them so strongly that the jello was barely able to set.
Confounded by the door, with her hands full, she lightly kicked the bottom in a staccoto beat and waited for someone to let her in.

Duce grinned back, "Hey Lana. Thanks. Yeah, they're jello shots. Uh. They may be just a little bit strong. I cut them at 3/4 instead of 1/2 strength. Got a choice of vodka, everclear, or rum."
She tossed her head back, disrupting an inquisitive snake's investigation of her left nostril. "So how goes the tree-wrapping so far?"

She led the way over to the counter and looked at what was set out there. "I'd imagine beer and wine are pretty universal. You're welcome to try any of the stuff here, though I'd recommend you stay away from the jello shots. I think they're pretty deadly strong>" She smiled at him. "Unless that's what you're looking for."

"Beer," Mal suggested. It was a word he recognised. "Wine's more fancy than I'm used to and strong spirits would make me all muddleheaded. Think I'm safer stickin' with something normal."
He looked around the room again, and the door. "Especially if someone wanted to talk to me here. It'd be polite if I could remember it in the morning."
Mal liked the bright way Lana smiled. It was a very open, honest smile; friendly. He could see why River had felt safe enough to befriend her.

"Beer it is, then," Lana said and waved to a row of bottles. "Take your pick. The ones on the end are a darker ale, these are a lighter beer."
"And I'm all in favor of being able to remember conversations in the morning," she said with a grin. "Not that I've always managed it, but I recommend it anyway."

Duce contemplated the tree and the trimmings. The items Lana had looked too.. too.. what was the word.. classy. Totally not Duce's style at all. Frowning, pensive for a moment, she idly reached into her backpack and hauled out a small, multicoloured pad of construction paper. Glancing between it and the tree, snakes waving excitedly around her face, she eventually took a seat on a nearby cushion and tore out a sheet of green paper. Her fingers idly pleat-folded it while she eyed up the tree.

Ben glanced over Duce's shoulder, trying not to be concerned over the snakes. "Origami?" He asked. Remembering that he'd met her at the playground, he added, "If Lana had a zen garden you could try for holiday sand sculptures."

Duce tilted her head back so she could look up at Ben. Grinning up at him, she shook her head, snakes slithering back to coil at the base of her neck. "No.." Beginning to tear the paper down the creases of the pleats, she explained, "Can't make a paper chain without small paper strips, so.." Shredding the paper, she created a steady pile of little green stripes, "I'm making some. Want some paper? I have a whole pad."
"Sand sculptures would be kinda cool," she mused, glancing around the place and noting the mentioned lack of zen garden, "Maybe I'll get her one for Christmas. So how have you been? Haven't seen you around in awhile and thought maybe you'd gotten munched by something." Fiddling with the papers, she added, "The new yoga dude doesn't measure up on the eyecandy quality meter."
Hmmm...have a few things I need to finish up. Maybe after a bit, if I can find the time and energy, and find the boys' voices again. Been a long time since I've used those muses.

She glanced down at what Duce was holding and grinned. "Please tell me those are jello shots!" she exclaimed. "Just what every party needs!"
