People are probably tired of my dire forebodings as far as work goes. Still, they sent out the "all-hands" meeting announcement for next week after the close of business yesterday. If they would only worry as much about morale as they do about executive secrecy, sigh. I'm going to call in to my assistant on Wednesday to find out what the content ( Read more... )

Pity that they can't be strung up by the SEC for bad employee morale like they can for insider trading leaks.

Good luck with the company, and I hope you have a great Pennsic.

Frankly, the main thing I would do about it is cut back on my crazy Pennsic spending (do I *need* another linen underdress?). The site fee is paid, and the camp fees/food plan, in advance.

For some time, I've been trying to convince my company (well, actually my division) that we need a librarian with no success. If you could shoot me a resume before you leave for Pennsic, I could at least bring up evidence that people like you exist...

IP Networks business unit of Ericsson. We've got something short of a hundred people in Lowell, but the main office grew out of a startup that Ericsson bought in San Jose.

Frankly, I don't think a librarian hire is likely, but we sure could use one. Next week, a fairly high-level manager will be visiting us in Lowell for small-group meetings, so it's a once-or-twice-a-year opportunity for making suggestions... and then a couple of days later I head to Pennsic.

Ick. It's gonna be what it's gonna be, and you have an excellent network for finding another position if they do something stupid while you're gone.

I hope that gives you some peaceful distance with which to say "screw them, I'm going to Pennsic" and enjoy your vacation.

In fact, if you think of it while you are away, I hope that you can try to stop yourself, take a deep breath, and say "screw them, I'm at Pennsic!"
