Yeah, so I'm late posting the fireworks picture...sue me. The sunset photos were taken tonight on my way to feeding the horses. Nothing too fancy, but I loved the colors of the clouds.

Thanks Sis! You know our monsoons make for great photo ops! This was the first attempt at taking pictures of fireworks, so I'm glad some of them turned out. I have others that because of slow shutter speeds, look like abstract art of flowers and palm trees.
Thanks Tonya! It's been a while since I've done anything and I'm trying to get back into it. I have some quirky ones that I'm going to mess around with and see what I can come up with.
these are great. the clarity and contrast on the fireworks pic is wonderful...
do you mind if i ask what kind of camera you use? ( hee, not that it makes much difference when you don't have the skill! but, still, it's nice to imagine taking pics such as this. :) ).
Hi Deb! No I don't mind you asking what kind of camera I use. I took the above pictures with a Nikon D100 digital SLR using a Sigma 28-300mm f3.5 zoom lens. I got it for Christmas and I've been using it almost exclusively since then.
I also have a Nikon Coolpix 5700 digital and my film camera is a Minolta X-700 with various lenses.
I will do some research today when I put the twins down for their nap and post some info for you on digital cameras.
Nikon, Kodak and Canon should have a few in your price range. It would help to know what kind of features you are most interested in ie; zoom lens or close up functions, low light capability...stuff like that.
Oh you would have loved the lightning last night then. There was a great storm building over the Rincon mountains just east of me. I saw a big lightning strike when I went to feed the horses around 8:00 pm (I was running way late) that hit the ground and stayed there for about 2 to 3 seconds. I was kicking myself for not having my camera with me.
How cool. I had lightning strike about 20 feet away from me. I have never heard ANYTHING that loud. Scared the crap out of me! LOL! I always liked to sit and watch the thunderstorms at night. Kind of miss them, . . .

i don't suppose you'd have a recommendation for a good starter digital? something not too pricey ( i'd like to stay below 300 )?
LOL, already hitting you up for advice. Normally I'm not such a pest! :D
