This is a somewhat personal post masquerading as a picture post masquerading as something that isn't completely meaningless. You can hover the cursor for alt text on most of these.

hey i actually do know how to use these things )

Picture posts are my favorite.

I'll be honest, I didn't know Newnan existed until I saw exits for it on I10, but it looks really beautiful.

At one time, Newnan had the highest concentration of millionaires of any city in the entire world. As the town's grown, that concentration has certainly diluted, but there are still parts of the city that are absolutely crawling with wealth, and thus the town has some of the nicest houses you will ever see. They like to market the place as "The City of Homes," and it's easy to see why if you drive around for a little while.

Next time I do a picture post, I'm gonna try to take some pictures of my home - the west side. It's rural as fuck (I remember a friend commenting once that it seemed like we had entered the CSA), but places like Flatrock (about ten miles from my house, an area of rock-soil unlike any other in all of the southeast) are so beautiful.

steve young is fucking awesome.

you need to acquire a copy of heartworn highways, the documentary about country music in the early 70's.

I just need to know more about country, period. I had so many rednecks trying to push shit like Garth Brooks down my throat for so long and so many people in my hometown obsessed with Alan Jackson that I shunned the genre almost completely until I got The Anthology of American Folk Music - and I was still too stubborn to get into any of the countrier stuff until I had exhausted the blues.

I'll check out that doc, though, and any recs for a novice would be appreciated.

If I remembered anything from Fluke (and I don't) I probably wouldn't admit it. maximumlobster October 25 2005, 04:49:29 UTC
Did you end up seeing Acid Mothers Temple?

Fluke is quite possibly the most depressing movie I have ever seen, which makes me both ashamed and proud that large portions of it were filmed in my hometown.

But no, I didn't. Fucking Sunday. Any other day of the week it prolly could've flown, but what're you gonna do?

I walked out. It was fucking atrocious.

Also, AMT was awesome and you shouldn't have missed them. But the important part is that the opener (The Occasion) is one of my favorite bands of ever.

Hahaha, one of my best friends from freshman year at d00k was from Newnan and she's Alan Jackson's niece.
