Failing all that, I don't know about ATL, but around the state schools here, there are independantly run student apartment complexes. You rent by the room and they pair you up with random people. I did that my first year. It wasn't ideal, but it worked.

Hah, says the person who voted in favor of me going to school vs. moving across country.
I really would like to get out of Portland and try living in a city somewhere completely different.
I don't know, we'll see how this school thing goes in the spring; if I still can't get financial aid after I dance through their hoops I am definitely gonna get to some other place.

Basil, I made a mistake concerning your future. You should not go back to school! You should move to Atlanta! We have the world of Coca-Cola! And the Atlanta Braves, the most successful sports franchise of the last 15 years! And Centennial Olympic Park! And one of the 10 tallest buildings in the US (I can't remember if it's top 10 in the world or not)! And uh, we have other stuff, too! MARTA! old_danube and hooper_x, help me out if you read this!
I think it would be really neat to live with an LJ friend and just comment back and forth to each other all day long instead of actually talking to each other. But yeah, Minnesota, what's in it for me? Some girl from Minnesota added me today. I get random people like that all the time, because of my famous name.
Um, I guess there's not a lot in MN for you. Our hip hop sucks (Atmosphere and the Atmosphere hanger-ons, for the most part). The weather sucks. I live here because I was born here and I'm afraid of new things. Now there's confusing and spotty smoking bands in most urban areas. There's a lively visual art scene, I guess.
Me and my roomie rockinrehab have often been to known to sit and comment to each other while we're both home, he in his room and me in the living room on our respective compookers.
Oh wow, that's awesome, that y'all would actually do that. You should move to Georgia, too, though. All of my LJ friends should. And we should start a gated community.
From 1 place, which I'm going to take a look at tomorrow (hey what you doin' Monday, I'm feeling well again?). Hopefully a few of these other places will get in contact with me, so I don't go up there tomorrow just for this one place, and while I'd love to stay up there all day, I gotta go to Dublin in the afternoon. Good God, tomorrow's gonna be hectic.
Yeah man, I hope you find something. I'm still looking just as voraciously for some work on evenings and such so I can afford amenities like food while I'm living here.
I get out of classes in the early afternoon on Mondays. I should be fully recovered from last night by then.

Craigslist did work wonders for me, but I'm also pretty sure I got lucky.
Still, you are always welcome in Portland... but trust me - you don't want to move here.
