Driving up the interstate, I-85, to move into the new place, Heavier Than a Death in the Family blaring out of my car’s shitty speakers, the only way to hear it, man. Suddenly, I notice a car passes me like I’m doing 20 when my speedometer reads 85, and I catch a glimpse of the name of the back of its trunk. Charger. One of the 06 models, the ( Read more... )

I wish my car could accelerate, because the only thing keeping me from my dream of being a street racing champion is a decent set of wheels. I always laugh at the boys in souped-up Hondas that will accelerate to 60 as fast as they possibly can but never go more than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit. It seems so stupid to me to have a car that can outrun a cop's and not at least try (but then, a lot of things that are perfectly logical seem stupid to me).

I don't like having the same icons as people, it makes me feel unoriginal.

I drive a Kia Rio, so I don't do that anymore, but I used to do that all the time. Though, once, I was the guy in the lead with a trail of speeders helping me along the way.

One time, I was coming to Auburn from Cullman, AL and I got into a "convoy" with three other cars all going about 100-110 from Birmingham all the way to my exit. The four of us rode along perfectly in unison until about Montgomery when a van up ahead randomly pulled into our lane forcing us to all slow down. As I was cursing the van (probably along with all the others), I saw why this person did what he did. The police had set up a little speed trap and this van saved at least two of us tickets (there were two cops with radars). Once I took my exit, I waved to the other drivers and they returned with swift hands. It was one of the quickest trips from Cullman to Auburn that I've ever had.

Reminds me of this truck, an F-350, I got behind this one time coming home from Statesboro. We got on the interstate at the same time, and right off I could see this guy was going to be a good one to follow. He didn't go below 95 the entire trip home, and I made it to Macon in just over an hour (it's like, 115 miles from Statesboro to Macon). I was actually kind of really sad when he got off of I-75 on Rumble Road (outside of Forsyth, which is where hooper_x is from), because I'd've followed him all the way to Atlanta if he'd been headed there, and probably made it home in record time.

I love the contraction "I'd've" by the way wellsjc January 23 2006, 22:54:59 UTC
Yea, I made a 200 mile trip in just under 2 hours with those people. My best time ever.

I love any contraction that is actually two contractions, really. I just adore contractions.

On a side note, my friend puts all of us to shame with his 3000 GT. He likes to see how long he can stay above 150 MPH. He's somehow also talked his way out of every speeding ticket they've attempted to write him.

I had a friend back at Southern with a crotch rocket who got clocked going 140 3 separate times, and each time outran the cops (I don't think there's enough county money in Bulloch to buy a helicopter). He made me really want to get a bike, because when he wasn't doing badass shit like that, he was getting laid by all the chicks there so aroused by the sight of a motorcycle.

If you get a two-wheeled rocket, don't tell Julia. She hates them. She's seen too many pictures of accidents from her dad. I guess it is a little different in Ohio where they don't have helmet laws, though. Accidents are quite worse when you have nothing protecting the jelly inside your skull when you hit the pavement at that kind of speed.

Honestly, at the speeds I'd be going, I don't think it'd matter one way or the other if I was wearing a helmet or not. She shouldn't worry, though, I've pretty much given up on wanting a bike. Reward not worth the risk or the money.

Let me know what you think.

I usually read the first lines of LJ entries, and if they're good enough, I read the rest.

Just kidding, I'm pretty good about reading everything, though sometimes I forget to go back to certain entries.
