When I was little I loved the X-Men, was subscribed to X-Men and Uncanny and Wolverine and maybe even a couple of the others - Generation X, X-Factor maybe - even watched that cartoon that was on Fox Kids or whatever the fuck1. As we grow older
The world becomes stranger, the pattern more complicated
Of dead and living.

Well I know I'm glad to have you back in any form. I think it's not too important to have the same feel you had two or three years ago. We're all different than we were back then. Just get out what you need to get out.

I've been checking the friends page on a regular basis and I don't think I've seen a post from you in a while. How have you been?

Yeah I barely ever post. I'm more of a commenter lately. But I'm doing pretty well.

That's good to hear. I was trying to do the same thing for a while but the soapbox bug gets a hold of you soon enough. Or maybe that's just me.

I always enjoy reading about that "other Livejournal" from several years ago, before I came on. It's like folklore.

I've never felt the need to blog like that (I just came to participate in the communities), but much respect to those who do, and feed me slices of the world and make this place live.

I think this website has always been like that. People were talking about the glory days of rating communities past even when I was a heavily active member of s_r.

so it sounds like you're looking for that old feeling again when you should simply be finding what new feelings come with the evolved community here. the same people are around, more or less, but things are always slightly different. you still write lovely, introspective posts, though.

I just think that (if I stick around) it'll just take some time to treat the site normally. Right now I'm still kind of feeling my way around. Are there any non-defunct communities - of any kind - anymore? I mean, besides ohnotheydidn't.

I can respect Facebook's ability to provide me with skanky pictures of extremely hot girls from high school. It also reassures me in having not ended up with some ex-girlfriends. One of them got married not too long ago and then ballooned like a motherfucker. Schadenfreude remains my motivation.

It is depressing, though, to see who turns back into petulant 12 year olds.
