This episode was pretty much all about how talking solves problems. The first Rampart case the prescription is a shot of insulin and Dixe giving the patient a stern talking to.
Dixie also gets enough information out of the attempted suicide to get her identity and location. So not only does the woman get to live, they get to the house before the gas can ignite from the pilot light from the gas water heater.
And at the end, after Johnny spent most of the episode giving Roy more ammunition that Johnny is from another planet, he gets to know one of the robbers and then convinces them that their plan is too dumb to work and they should just give up now.
