So here's the part where I get what I want and then I'm not sure if it's what I wanted, and friends get annoyed with listening to me because I'm the most random, unsatisfied person they know. What's behind this vague hyperbole

It does suck that your mom had to be so indifferent ... there are few things more annoying than someone who should be excited for us not exhibiting a positive reaction.
So what if you don't do this forever. You hate your current job, so leave. You'll do this new job for however long you WANT to do it. You're in control, as it's your life.
and by the way: CONGRATULATIONS!

I think you came to YOUR conclusion at the end of your journal...you have to live YOUR days, live YOUR experiences and love YOUR life. If you go to a job that lights your soul and brings a smile to your face, then, how my friend, is that the wrong place for you?! You are working it all out for you...you took prob. test a YEAR ago...who knew both would come knockin' at the door at the same time?! There are no coincidences, just twists of fate. It is your responsbility in this lifetime to make yourself happy...I am sure your family will see that, at least over time when there done scratching their head!
