About piano, there IS possible to catch up. I started playing piano a year and a half ago. Most people have played at least five years, if not double that. And I'm already past "Mary Had a Little Lamb" (playing such classics as "To Zanarkand". Because video game tunes really are classics. Though, to be more conventional, I just got the Fur Elise sheet music a few days ago ( ... )

Ugh, that sucks. Especially as you're really a muy talented artist - but luckily, I think you already know that. :)
You're also really smart.

And if it helps any, I think it's just a parent thing. My mom brags about my writing, and always tells me how great I am, but then any specific piece I create is, "It's fine." Except, for some reason, if I really hate it.

And the comparison thing? You have no idea how many times I've heard: "Ariel, this school just isn't for you. It's for people like Jasmine, who are good at academics."

Silly parents. :/

I want to prove my mom wrong. We should just all boycott parents.
I'm already doodling my pseudo deep meaning artistic piece. That way she can't even complain that I'm not deep and emotional. Though it doesn't have blood or pain. Maybe that isn't deep enough for her (my mom's defintion of deep=pain and blood.)
ARRRGH!!! Parents are giving us all mental problems! We're all going to grow up messed up at this rate!

Unfortunately, my mom doesn't realize there is a whole world of pathetic Gothicism devotes to drawing bloody pictures of giant eyes and writing bad gothic poetry about suicide (and vampires if they want it to get accepted onto elfwood)... (Think Ode to a Green Lump of Putty I Found In My Armpit One Day, but far, far, worse)
And I like your descriptive language. Douglas Adams has rubbed off on you...
