#1 Jeff
The eye doc had told us that Jeff's eyes won't get better so we need to work on keeping them the way they are....and we do daily. So in March we filed for his disability.....after waiting and waiting, they notified Jeff's eye doc that he had to do a standard eye test to "make sure" glasses won't help him. (like as if his doc didn't think about that already and test) I think after 8 laser surgeries and 2 steroid injections and *too many to count* visits, his doc *should* know if Jeff's eyes will get better with or with out glasses.....so anyway, we went in, he did the test, said "gee this test also says it won't get better with glasses, not that I am surprised". He then filled out the papers and sent them in to the "not so bright" disability people. Well yesterday Jeff got a phone call.....he was approved for his disability! We are happy because we have been living off my income alone since October and realize that we can do it, so his $ will be "extra"....well actually he will use his $ to pay his regular bills and I will have the "extra" money. We can't let his $ sit in his account and grow or the disability people will think he doesn't *need* it. So now we wait to find out when his check will arrive (be deposited)....and see how far back they go on payments....since there is a 3-6 month waiting period the lady said she was going to try to get them to count back from when we applied for that.
This isn't the most ideal situation, Jeff would rather be able to work and I would rather him to be able to see better.....but we are making some good lemon-aide with the lemons life handed us...we are working toward preventing him from getting worse in any way.
#2 CAR
Jeff always bitches at me for the cars/trucks I buy. I come from a very "frugal" life and putting a lot of $ in an auto is just not done. so I get the "with the $ you make you can buy a nice car" from him all the time. Well last week I decided that I do *deserve* a nicer car. One I know won't leave me stranded.....one where he won't worry about me driving it since he can't come get me if I have problems. So I applied for an "open ended" car loan (says "if the car is worth at least X you have that much to spend, with out us doing any further checking") So I went looking...and found a nice 2002 Ford Escape that had 1 owner previously who I don't think every took the think in mud (it is a 4x4). It had 47,000 miles (about average for a 3 yr old auto) still shiny under the hood, all clean inside (no smoke smell). so I took it for a test drive on Wednesday......Thursday I got approval for the loan......Friday I went to the dealership and got my SUV.......Now I have to move cars around.....The Explorer must get moved to Jeff's son's house since it is now his....the mini-van must go to the shop to see what is wrong, then I will decide to fix and sell or just sell as-is. The F250 needs to move to the "extra parking" area. The I will only have the Escape at the house.....But I am excited, it drives so well, looks so good, smells so good, feels so good......

#3 KID
My 17 yr old daughter decided she should go against what I want (I think she expected me to fight her over it) and see the guy down the street.....19 yr old with an 8th grade education who does not work.....told me "in 4 months when I turn 18 I am moving out and we are getting married"
I decided that I didn't deserve to have to argue with her for 4 more months so I said "why wait?" so I signed, she got married and is now seeing how hard life really is.
She and I have a long history of not getting along and this was my way of keeping my sanity.
I do believe live is getting better.
