I will use the term "blanket" to mean quilt, blanket, throw, sheets, pillows, etc. Anything you would use on the bed or to wrap in to keep warm

Would it be appropriate for me to send gift cards for, say, Bed Bath & Beyond? I did this for another friend's mother in Florida whose town was hosting hurricane victims and it was nice to avoid shipping charges while still helping.
The Bed Bath & Beyond was in the mall and it has not reopened all the stores. But Walmart is open, Home Depot, Lowes.....these are open and have supplies others can use.
If you do that, when you send it make sure you put a note "for Katrina Relief" so they will know what it is intended for.....that is not a personal gift but a relief gift to be used as needed for the community.
After thinking....any gift cards should go to my sister because Mom doesn't currently have transportation to even get to the stores for supplies.
My sister goes to the city where all the stores are when she goes to work at the hospital (my sis is a nurse) and she could buy supplies as needed with gift cards. She will be one of my "key" players in getting updated "needs" lists
Oooh, all good information. I'll make sure the card is noted as a relief donation, and I'll send it as soon as I've earned a bit of cash - just getting back to work after a long break!
