People must have shorter memories than I thought.  I feel so sorry for those in lower Manhattan who freaked today.  I can just imagine what that must have been like.

It has taken me years to not get nervous about planes flying overhead.  I still notice them, but the adrenaline doesn't surge ( Read more... )

Oh for God's sake - - PHOTOSHOP people. I'm pretty sure the government has the capability. Why waste the time, energy, gas, man power, etc and scare the excrement out of people. Aren't we all talking about a collapsing economy? You just bitched out a bunch of execs about flying in to ask for money BECAUSE IT COSTS SO MUCH TO OPERATE THE JETS.

Yep, insensitive for 9/11 survivors. So doubly idiotic.

I wouldn't have had such a problem if they'd PUBLICIZED the flyover. That's all they had to do.

Jim and I were talking about it in the car on my way to school today, and we're also cheesed that people are freaking about the need to have military jets patrol our airspace. Um, hello? It's necessary. But it does need to be publicized that such patrols are *normal*, and that nothing's wrong when you see that jet -- it's like seeing a police car in your neighborhood. BUT, when it's supersekrit, like this stupid photo-op, it scares people because it wasn't expected.

I heard military jets overhead a couple of weeks ago, and immediately Facebooked it. Within a minute, a friend who was at Citi Field told me that there had been an FA-18 flyover for Opening Day. No big -- it was publicized, and expected, and easily explainable. Cool. But today wasn't. Dumbasses.
