What's not period??

I mentioned last week (I think) that I hadn't really given much thought to a garden of period plants at Corbinham. And then today, I was out watering the perennial bed in the front yard. I began to take inventory.

Irises (tall-bearded, which counts I. germanica in it's heritage)
Sweet William
Wild strawberries
St John's wort
Vinca

You know, I've been looking at the same sort of thing with my herb garden (currently still more theoretical than practical, but work will begin SOON).

I'm thinking that the main body of the herb garden will focus on period plants, and any modern hybrids or new world plants will go into an adjacent section.

Not because it has to be that way, but just because I want it to be that way. :)
