I was sad to hear of her passing as well...and so surprised. I thought, as you did, how wonderful she looked at the induction...she hadn't changed a bit. I always thought she was awesome too.
Very well put. Sensational Sherri was an incredible woman in the world of wrestling, a rare dose of hardcore in a world that now more closely resembles Avril Lavigne in its harsher moments. She was ballsy, beautiful and entertaining as hell. I always had a massive crush on her back in the day, and was very glad to see that she was still looking as lovely as ever when she was inducted into the hall of fame. But that's what makes it even sadder to hear about her passing. She was so young, and this just came out of nowhere.
I couldn't agree more with your sentiments about her. She deserves much more recognition than she will probably receive, and alas, her death has already been somewhat overshadowed by the "Vince McMahon is dead?" storyline. But she was one of those truly exceptional entertainers, always my first choice as manager when my childhood-self dreamed of being a wrestler, and I'll miss her. R.I.P Sherri!
sherri was awesome. i truly wanted to grow up to be like her... i mean, she was a lady and a character and she was so tough! i was just in awe of her and her bizarre yet fun style. she looked sensational as always at the hall of fame, indeed she was still hot. way too young to pass on, poor sherri.
i am going to have my burlesque event in coney island lucha muerte dos, in late august. they traditionally conclude with a wine bath, and mine will be in tribute to the late great sherri martel.
ohhh don't get me started on the "vince is dead" angle... really now. there are and were actual passings that are actually sad, eddie guerrero, owen hart, and of course sherri. it's bad karma.
in happier news, i am going to see mikey whipwreck and spike dudley and probably jerry lynn next weekend in long island. i haven't been to an event in ages...
thank you for chiming in, i'm so glad to hear from someone who knows how great she was. hope all is well with you... -d
