Week 1: Snowe
You've seen them around the neighborhood. Now come inside and join them at their place...
Dinnertime with Lucy, Thierry, and Virginia. Lucy, if you'll recall, was so deeply engrossed by Frida's political talk at their last meeting that she didn't even try to go fishing with the other neighbors. She attempts to continue the discussion at home, but Virginia and Thierry seem underwhelmed.
Lucy is a knowledge sim and wants to max out 7 skills in her lifetime. She's always hitting the books or finding some other way to enrich herself. This, in combination with her hitting it off with Frida, makes her the town's best prospect for unlocking electricity and running water!
Virginia painting in her already prepared nursery. She only just found out she was pregnant, but she has a strong nesting instinct and was quick to make over her former studio space. She's hoping to open a gallery in town as soon as development opens up on Main Street, so she spends as much time as she can at her easel, working toward a masterpiece.
And here's father-to-be, Thierry. Another man with a family aspiration! He wants to have six grandchildren someday, so he's really ready to get this baby-making show on the way. Virginia and Lucy originally rented him a room when they arrived in Ste-Margo, thinking he would be put in charge of running the garden and help out with mortgage payments, but he almost immediately installed himself in Virginia's bed and hasn't acted like a renter (or paid rent) since.
Thierry proposed as soon as he found out about they were expecting. Virginia, being a romance sim, probably would have turned him down under other circumstances. But he spoke so charmingly about starting a family together... And engagements can go on for a very, very long time...
Lucy now lives upstairs in the attic in what was meant to be Thierry's room. It was lonely the first night, not sharing a bed with her little sister like they did when they first moved into this old house, but she's grown to like the privacy.
She has space to play and pursue her hobbies in peace. To develop her creative side, she found herself a manual typewriter and is trying to hammer out her first novel.
Morning sickness is not fun for anyone, but Virginia is an extremely neat sim and actually seems to enjoy an excuse to clean the toilet.
Look how pleased she is with herself!
Post-coital grilled cheese. Virginia's life goal is to eat 200 of these sandwiches, which is convenient because since getting engaged, she's been wracked by the kind of uncertainties that only grilled cheese can drown out.
Thierry, meanwhile, remains blissfully unaware of his fiancee's ambivalence.
After he returns to bed, Virginia continues to sublimate her feelings into a kitchen cleaning spree.
Thierry is really quite committed to his future wife, but he has brought with him some rather French notions of love and marriage. Luckily (?), he hasn't had any success with his romantic overtures to date. And speaking of our newly married and newly pregnant Gemma Sweet...
... she would be pleased to note that her husband Charlie is similarly unmoved by Lucy's clumsy attempts to charm him. Not the best idea to try to meddle with such a happy couple, Lucy and Thierry.
This, on the other hand? Is a fabulous idea. Lucy needs to run into Milo right quick.
In her quest to learn as much as she can, Lucy had been doing all of the house's cooking up to this point. But with a growing pregnancy and equally increasing relationship anxiety, Virginia's decided to assume control of her grilled cheese supply.
And her pregnancy is growing! Thierry can't believe how big she's getting!
Perhaps feeling chastened by his recent attempts at cheating, or perhaps just reminded of his upcoming fatherhood by Virginia's expanding girth, Thierry turns his full attention back to his lady love. And not a moment too soon...
Welcome baby Eustacia Snowe! If/when her parents get married, she'll change her name to Snowe-Morceau-- what a mouthful. She looks exactly like her father (especially as she gets a little older!).
Lucy still can't believe her baby sister has a baby. Learning to be an aunt counts as skill-building, right?
Thierry finds motherhood has made Virginia even hotter than before, and before you know it...
He wants six grandchildren, Virginia. He wants them bad.
Lucy in the bath. I just thought she looked really pretty here, and we hadn't seen the downstairs bath yet.
In no time at all, Eustacia has her birthday! (Lucy: too hungry to wait for cake.)
See? She looks exactly like Thierry.
I will never stop finding toddler potty-training faces hilarious.
By the end of the week, the garden had finally begun to bear fruit, and they were able to open a produce stand out front. Virginia is the owner even though Thierry's been doing most of the work. She's just not 100% certain of where their relationship is heading, so she wanted to make sure she held onto the business regardless of where they ended up as a couple.
Here's Wendy again, writing up another review. The Ste-Margo paper consists entirely of business reviews at this point.
Penelope! Squee! What are you doing here by yourself?
All of these playables showed up and crowded around all day long, when none of them is allowed to buy anything except for old garden clubbie over there.
Wait, what?! Piet?!! How did you do that?? You're not supposed to be able to buy things on your own, and yet here you are, buying an entire crate of lemons... I guess they really needed it, what with all the fish they've been catching at the Batavus house. (But seriously, how did you do that?) [Okay, figured it out: All my families have FFS money orders in their homes to pay taxes to the founder. Turns out, having the money order undoes the No Playable Shoppers mod for that family. So I guess from now on, money orders will be bought and resold each week on tax day!]
Quite a week for the Snowe household. And so with a sunset salutation, Lucy bids you all adieu until next time.
