Home Again?

Jun 15, 2005 12:31

I've been back home for about a week now. It's hard being back. I've been unpacking for the last week without much luck. I had so much stuff that I'm pretty much moving it from one place to another. It's nice to be home for all the comforts of home stuff like baths, email, Frosties, bagels, and air conditioning. Plus, of course my family and ( Read more... )

I'm so glad to hear that you've found a job, especially one that you're familiar with and which won't be too stressful. :) Talk to you soon. ~TL

Culture Shock and "Home" Sickness anonymous June 19 2005, 09:00:59 UTC
It's odd to think we go through culture shock when we return home, but it's true, dearheart. Home with your family will always be home, but one's sense of home widens when we travel and become part of other worlds, whether it is home at Drew in Madison or home in France. Whenever you come back to your old home from a new home you're bound to look at it differently, especially at first. I think the trick is to try to be fully present and at home wherever you are.

And try to ease up on the worrying about the future! Remember - how do you eat an elelphant?

Love,
Mom

Stop worrying! Now is not the time to worry about it, or to start thinking about worrying about it. You need to "worry" about it in slow increments. When you think about everything at once you'll get urself sick. And that's just stupid thinking. I sound like a broken record, but you keep worrying about the same things. Who gives a shit what happens tomorrow or 5 years from now, there's no use trying to control things you can't, or worrying about things you can't control. If you're worried about grad school, spend one day, apply and be done with it instead of letting it hang over your head. Just live your life, it's all going to work out in the end. Trust me.

Hey girl...
I don't know if you'll know about this message, but I'm at Bosch now, and I'm missing you every minute. Things just aren't the same around here, but everything is good. I'm so happy and everything is amazing. The people are great. There's pretty much NO DRAMA, which is weird when you think about it enough...hehe. I'll try to call you or email you later and tell you about everything that's going on here...I love you, and I hope your summer is going splendidly.
Love,
Rach
