that's why my mom didn't let me watch horror movies when I was little. But she did let me watch the Twilight Zone and I was creeped out by the "Terror at 30,000 Feet" episode. I couldn't open a curtain at night for YEARS because of this thing ...
Poltergist did it for me. I can't remember exactly how old I was when I watched it, but I was young enough to always watch the TV from about a foot away (no lie - have you *seen* the thickness of my glasses?). My mom loves telling the story:
"When I left the room to get some popcorn, I reminded her to sit back from the TV. When I came back to the room with the popcorn, she was behind the couch. Apparently, she'd seen the part where the little girl gets sucked into the TV."
Poltergeist is some scary shit. I still won't watch it. I know that parents screw their kids up, but to let you watch that by yourself.....pure child abuse. Ask the therapist we all know you're seeing in one of your "How My Mom Screwed Me Up" sessions and see what she says. I'll ask mine too. ;)
