A ailing computer

I've spent the last day dealing with (ok, watching worriedly while my husband dealt with) viruses on my computer. He thinks he found and destroyed them, but I'm still wary about what awful things I'll find when I open various applications. I think I'm most terrified about my data directory. If it helps, I react the same way. I mean, what's the point? It's not as if they ever know whose lives they mess up, whose data they destroy. It's pure meanness, but meanness without even a twisted purpose.

Dealing with the same issue this week. Wound up taking the computer into the shop, which is also scary, since who knows if the techs can be trusted with all the personal info on the hard drive? I just have to trust in people's good sides winning out (or, that, you know, my personal info is just too boring to mess with, heh).

Sorry about the school. That must be scary for the kids. :(

Well, there might be more than good nature involved. If your accounts get hacked, and you recently had the computer in the shop, you've got a really likely starting point for the Feds to begin their investigation.
