I suppose this was the lazy writer's way of giving the player justification for being a genocidal maniac which is a fine line to toe in any FPS, let alone one that's racially charged. I feel your pain though >_>, I worked on FPS' and the story really got shafted in the development process unless somebody pounced on it early and went around yelling 'dudes, we gotta have a story!' at all the DD's.

It's kind of interesting, I think that being a genocidal maniac actually works better without justification. Painkiller grasped this by making their cutscenes skippable and the entire gameplay nonstop killing and that game was hard to put down. But games like farcry 2 and quake 4 drive me nuts with their half-baked dialogue that's wedged into the actual gameplay world. (Btw I have this complaint more with quake 4 because id can clearly do a genocidal maniac game competantly, so the one dimensional characters were even more irritating because you know id doesn't need this distraction).

So I guess what I don't like is half-way storylines. Like if they're going to do the story thing do it well.
