The Spawn of Satan

I was talking to johnspiff this morning and he asked me if I was going to have a good day, I stupidly said yes.  I wish now I could take those words back.  Things were going along just fine until I got to work and saw that my first lesson was a one on one kids class with Akira, the spawn of satan.  For the majority of the 40 minutes I had with him he was on ( Read more... )

get someone to talk to his parents and say "this child is not capable of learning, not from me anyways".

you have no right to put up with that crap. he obviously is not going to learn anything, and you obviously should not teach him...especially if he's abusing you to the point of you wanting to be physical with him.

:) you probably look so cute when you're mad.

He is actually a very intellignt little boy, his paretns are totally to blame for his parents. I remember teaching his mother in a class many months ago before I had to teach him. She was introducing herself to the the students and she told the others that her son studied with us as well. I asked who her son was and she said Akira. Then she said apologised.

As for having to put up with it, yes I do. It is all about sales. Part of the joy of working for a Japanese company.

OMG ! I tough that Japanese kids were just like Chinese, very respectful to their elders, I can see that this is quite a hard situation. Your body says: hit him, but your reason says: stay cool. What do your collegues say about it? I whish this will get better.

Japanese children are very much like chinese children and they are respectful, but the parents are a more inclined to letting their childen be children, because they know there very strict and rigid school system will keep them busy enough for 12 years.

Other teachers who have taught him in the past told me the first time nt to expect to much and pretty much just sit there for 40 minutes and enjoy the quiet time. Sadly I can't do that, his parents pay extra money for him to be taught one on one, so I am not about to sit there and draw for 40 minutes, which is what he wants. He can not have every thhing is own way.

I had him again yesterday right after my favourite kinder class. I repeated the lesson he didn't do yesterday, he tried to repeat his performance as well. So I got up and called one of the scarier Japanese staff members, she spoke to him. I got him to do his workbook pages and the flash cards, then let him draw. We actually had a fun class he laughed and we talked about planes.
