I had a few people tell me they were sort of surprized by the other version of Hurt I did, so I decided to redo it, this time a little more in keeping with the original.
I like both versions, but for more of an emotional value, the second one is better; and of course it keeps with the original. My roommate, Eileen also listened to the first one and said that she liked your voice better than the version by Johnny Cash. ;)
About "One", she said that you shouldn't be singing that song. :D I'm so used to the U2 version of that one, it kinda' takes me by surprise too.
We both liked "Something", but the big kicker that we both thought was very excellent was "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away".. that entire song was great - you did a really good job on that one.
"Fleeting Thought" - also another good one. This was the one that you wrote yourself? Damned good as well.
Thanks a lot man, your words mean much to me. Yes, Fleeting Thought is mine from start to finish. The music popped up a long time ago (about 4 or 5 years) and just sat around waiting for lyrics which showed up a month ago or so. The first version of Hurt is how I usually play it. Hide has always been one of my favorite songs. I'll admit it, I wish my voice would drop a little and take on a Tennesee Twang for that one. ;) You're right about One. It's not really in my range. That vocal take took forever to do (truth be told it's actually about 4 takes spliced together, and that's why there are odd pauses in it some times [hurry up and get here, stupid punch in]). I really wanted to attack the "Love is a temple" bit like Bono does, but I lack any sort of approximate skill to do so. Terribly dissapointed with Something. Really should redo the vocals on that sometime or other.
so by doing a random search, i come across your journal and this amazing music. i dont' really know my point in writting this.... since you probably already know that you're talented ... but i just wanted to tell you that i love music that actually has subtance, that actually says something and your music was a nice ending to my day...
Thank you so very much :). Random searches rule; I do that all the time too. Stop by again sometime :).
Your comment put a great shine on the morning. *bings*
*scans your journal* Well, welcome to LJ. I think that you need some more friends though, so I'm befriending you. It gets a little dark in here sometimes, but (thank god) it's starting to get a little bit brighter I think.

I wish my voice had the twang for Hurt, not One.
