I'd rather you get your own vineyard.

I second Rachel... That is, if you can't get your own Cane plantation and potato field...

haha, but no, it sounds like it would be fun! If anything, you can at least say you tried it. It's funny, actually a couple of my friends have said that they would like to do this. Apparently, it is pretty simple, a buddy of mine does it. He also makes brandy with various fruits (fermented vodka, peaches, and sugar... oooo *drool*).

Anyways, go for it!

A good friend of mine started making his own beer several years ago, and says he would never go back. Once you pay the initial costs and learn to manipulate the flavor, there really is no down side. Except maybe alcoholism!

yea, it makes so much beer each time, 5 gallons (20 Liters)! im sure i could figure out how to half it, but still, it takes me a long time to finish off a case of beer usually, unless there is a party or something goin on...

In 2 weeks I'll be brewing my 7th batch. If you want to come over and see what all goes into it you're more than welcome. I'll be doing a nice IPA for the summer followed by a Kolsch. Many of the supplies are easy to get and for your startup I could let you borrow some equip or you could bring your ingredients over and brew together. I have

1 5 gal ale pale
3 5 gal glass carboy
several feet of tubing
1 copper cooling coil
one water pump
2 5 gal mash pots
several cases of empty bottles
enough blank caps to kill a man
3 airlocks
2 hygrometers
2 thermometers
2 bottle cappers
1 5 gal keg

Call me. It's not worth investing if you find out you're not into all of the work.
