Burlesque photos

Aug 22, 2008 18:58

Liz asked me to share the burlesque photos I took for Becky the other night. Well I will, but reluctantly. They didn't come out how I wanted, it's this horrible lighting in our house, they just look like amateur snaps, I'm far from happy with them. She's making a sort of flyer / brochure to promote her act and these are the photos to go on it. the ( Read more... )

Thank you! Yes, the fans are made from ostrich feathers and she says they cost £150 for a pair!

Everyone likes the last one the best, including me, but Becky just wasn't keen which is a shame as it's also technically the best one, but hey, the customer is always right :o)

Awww, I think they look good. I have to agree though, they do look a bit yellow. Can you play with the color balance to bring the yellow back?

Thanks Liz! I was secretly hoping you'd have a play with them ;o)
I tried playing with the colour balance but I couldn't get them to look right. Maybe I should have shot in RAW and then I could have adjusted the colour temperature so much easier. I'm useless with white balance, it never seems to work for me; when I use grey card, white card, auto white balance, one of the preset modes, it never seems to look right :-s

I don't have a background, mainly because I never normally take portraits. I found the most plain wall in the house, but I never thought of pulling her away from the wall, doh! I kept her close to the wall to keep out as much of the floor as possible as they're going to be cut out. It does look good in B&W, I'll ask her what she thinks.

No no, I like you giving me pointers, you're a much better photographer than I am and I always appreciate your comments :o) Thanks again!

Hey Shellie...aww yeah, you totally should have shot in RAW. I never shoot jpeg anymore. I've gotten myself in too many scrapes doing that. OH well...lesson learned right? I learn lessons EVERY time I shoot! I guess that's just the nature of our business.

I hardly think I'm a better photographer, Shellie! But anyway we can help each other, we definitely should.

Did she ever have her image cut out and posted wherever she was going to? How did it come out?

Yep, lesson definitely learned! A photographer friend of mine who does baby pictures like you just learned a very harsh lesson. It seems she never formats her memory cards for some reason and she got back from one shoot with a corrupted memory card where you could see fragments of old photos all mixed up in the new ones. Ouch, I suppose she'll never do a shoot without formatting again!

No, Becky hasn't chosen a photo yet, they're just sitting here on my computer waiting! I don't know what's taking so long, she has a show coming up soon and I thought she wanted the flyer ready for that. Ah well, her loss!

I love the feathers! but I like the last picture because of the shadows.
Have fun in Cumbria! I love twisty roads but you spend so much time watching the road you never really get to admire the scenery!

Thanks :o) Apparently the fans are made from ostrich feathers and cost £150 a pair! I like the picture too, thank you, it seems everyone likes that one the best, apart from Becky and they're her photos! Shame...

I did have fun in Cumbria thank you, we saw all the tourist attractions that I never saw when I lived there, because if you grow up in a place, you don't tend to see it from a tourist point of view, so it made a lovely change :o)
