Christmas comes too soon? Plus Ewanfest write up (finally!)

Gah, Christmas has started already! The Book Club at work has brought in a singing dog wearing a Christmas hat and singing "I wish it could be Christmas every day." Well it bloody feels like it is sometimes! Pete has already bought and eaten his first Christmas cake. He spotted it in Sainsbury's yesterday and quite happily proclaimed "It's Christmas!" in a very loud voice like some sort of excitable child.
Come on people, Christmas lasts for ONE day and there are THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE days in the year, so why take so long building up to it? We still have a quarter of the year left to go. Although I do admit I do normally start Christmas shopping around about now, but that's because I hate it so much, trying to think of things to get for everyone and then braving the shops, yuck. So I buy things for people as and when I see something and think "Oooh so-and-so would like that." so by the time we get to the beginning of December, I've already done at least half.

This year I don't have to worry about buying teeny tiny presents for everyone as I am planning on owning a car by then so I can drive to my parents house and fill it with Christmas presents for everyone, instead of carrying all the presents and all my luggage either on the back of my motorbike or on the train, neither of which is a very practical option for such situations.

Ooh last night I dreamed that me and three of my workmates were very heavily pregnant ready to pop at any moment. This is probably partly due to one of my workmates already actually being pregnant and I'm worrying about the extra workload when she goes on maternity leave, and it's probably partly due to me thinking about medusa, who we all thought was going into labour the other day, but Mini Medusa decided he was going to stay put for the time being. But in my dream I loved being pregnant! I remember I was disappointed that I didn't relish it as much as I should have and I was upset that now it was too late to enjoy it as I was going to have the baby soon. I have no idea what it feels like to be pregnant as it has never happened to me so I've probably got the lovely warm Mummy feeling all wrong, there were none of the swollen ankles, squished up organs, constant weeing or dislocated pubic bones as is the reality! And no, I'm not really broody before any of you suggest it!

OK, so I'm still in the process of catching up, I'll skip straight to Ewanfest, which was about a week and a half ago! . Which, by the way, I've decided can count as a movie marathon, so I can cross number 46 off my list of 101 things in 1001 days :-D

mya_scarlet's directions were spot on and I had no trouble at all finding the hotel. I got settled in, walked the 1.6 miles to Anne's house and met sue_chose_this and linda_joyce, who were already there and had already watched Serpent's Kiss but I don't mind that I missed it because I'm not that keen on it ;o) It is an important film, though, as it's where Ewan and Charley met so without Serpent's Kiss, there would be no Long Way Round, and without Long Way Round, I would never have got on a motorbike!
I was slightly worried when I saw the running order and thought I'd missed Young Adam, but they decided to forfeit this for some STRANGE reason :op

After saying our hellos and filling up on snacks, we settled down to Shallow Grave, Revenge of the Sith, Deception and Moulin Rouge, which I have now seen 20 times and had a hard time not talking along with the entire script and singing to the entire score. I couldn't stop myself, though, and my mouth kept opening to let out the singy-ness. Slightly embarrassing for the most part. It was ok when Sue joined in, but when she stopped singing, I was on my own and felt very conspicuous!

By this time, we'd had our fill of food and wine and decided to make a post on LiveJournal, LIVE from Ewanfest 2008! And here is a photo of us doing just that!

How exciting for you.

So, Sue and Linda gave me a lift back to the hotel, we said our goodnights and retired to sleep.

Next morning, we headed over to Anne's house again where we had drinks and then headed out to the pub for the most wonderful lunch and a walk in the countryside.

Here you can see Anne's husband, Andrew, and their most gorgeous baby daughter, Alyssa, running towards him. In the foreground you have Sue, Linda and Anne.

The view! On a good day, we were informed that you can see Manchester, North Wales, Blackpool and all the way up my home, the Cumbrian Fells! Sadly it was very hazy that day so I couldn't see Cumbria, but we could see Blackpool Tower which was quite exciting.

I love this house, with the gorgeous dog sitting on guard outside

And a rare photo of a butterfly, which I never normally manage to get!

We had such a good time, we were actually discussing organising next year's shindig while we were still there! It would be great to get more of the ladies involved next time :o)

Must get dinner soon, I don't want to be eating too soon before swinging around and hanging upside down at pole dancing, but Pete isn't back from university yet and it's his turn to pay tonight, grr, it's already 6:40pm and he was supposed to have finished at 3pm, I don't know where he's got to!
