How did the weekend go?

Oct 27, 2008 21:21

Well, I'd better get on and answer all of your questions since I asked for them on the 15th! Most of them are from Opendiary, I guess my LJ friends just aren't nosy enough ;o) But feel free to add any more questions here if you feel like it!

Do you think men in the UK are the same all over (like here in the US) or different? I already posted this. [justmom]
Well, men are men aren't they? I guess deep down they're all the same, but I've not really had much dealing with non-UK men. I have noticed though, that generally in the USA people are more friendly to strangers, like check out people in shops are more likely to have a wee chat with you, and people in bars will come and chat with no ulterior motive, which you don't get nearly as much in the UK, unfortunately, but I can't really differentiate between the men and the women.

What is your dream job and why? [~Twinkle~]
My dream job is to be a film set photographer. Simple really, I love films, I always have, films is my 'thing' and I love being on a film set, and I also love photography so it was kind of obvious what job I should aspire to do :o)

If you could go back in time and kick your own arse, what age would you give yourself a talking to? I'd go back to when I was 15 and tell myself not to muck about in school. [Babe in Toyland]
Hmmm...not sure to be honest. That's not to say I've been perfect, far from it, but I don't know what I'd do differently. Maybe I'd try harder when I got my degree; I graduated five years ago and I don't seem to have used my degree for anything so far, so I'd go back to being 21, or even to whilst I was still at university, and try harder and get some media work.

whats the nastiest thing you want to do to Ewan (sp?) LOL!
i can already see the answer >:) [Canadian Lass]
Haha! Erm, nothing nasty, really, just the usual stuff, you know! If you already know the answer then there's no need for me to reply lol (I wanna know what you're thinking!) And you did spell it right btw :o)

What's the meanest thing that you have ever done to someone and was it intentional?
I be stealing this too :) [Lucretia]
Hmm blimey, let me think...I'm not a mean person really and can't think of anything I might have done, honestly! There are a couple of people I wouldn't actually mind doing mean things to, just for revenge.

what do you like to do in your free time? [Tinkerbell mommy]
All sorts of things! I hate being bored and can't just sit around, even when I'm watching TV I have to be knitting or writing emails or something. In my spare time I work for AQA, photography, knitting, editing videos, pole dancing, chatting to my LJ friends and of course spending time with my real life friends!

What's your biggest regret in life? Chris x [chris1084]
Probably not working hard enough on my career once I'd graduated. Or, not working hard enough on improving my confidence.

And from Char_USA over here on LiveJournal,
OK my question to you----A very nice one...How often do you watch Ewan films?
It varies really, I actually haven't watched a Ewan film for a very long time, I think not since Ewanfest in the middle of September! But then I did watch five films in one day lol. So sometimes I want to watch them over and over, and sometimes I go ages without watching any.

So. I've just got back from Norwich; I drove the 156 there and 156 miles back in my teeny tiny car. We got on fine, but I'm noticing the tiny 1.3 litre engine as it seems to take about 10 minutes to get from 0-60 which is a pain in the arse if you're coming off a roundabout on a dual carriageway, I end up getting left behind and holding up all the people behind me! But that's to be expected and, apart from that, car is just lovely! Pete decided he wanted to have a go in it. I was a bit apprehensive as he hasn't driven a manual car since he passed his test, but he got on fine and ended up hooning it for 20 miles around country lanes; it came out absolutely filthy and I'm not sure car enjoyed it too much (or maybe that was just me, worried he was thrashing the engine...!)

I've been making an effort to try and get things back to 'normal' with Pete, and he seems to be responding. We spent a lot of time together and had lots of cuddles and so far, so good so perhaps all is not lost if we work at it. But obviously things are different when we're away from home so we'll have to see how it holds up once he's back in Loughborough. On Thursday night he even invited me out with this super special friends of his, and they are lovely people. Very friendly, funny and talkative, I would definitely have them as my friends if I could so I hope I get to spend some more time with them soon. Thank you so much for all of your notes, I will reply to them all individually when I'm less tired, you're all wonderful :o) *group hug*

This past weekend, me and Pete wandered around Norwich doing bits of shopping, visited Happisburgh (oddly pronounced 'Haysborough') which is an odd little village. All the houses are slowly falling into the sea, so the ones that remain have fallen into a state of disrepair. People are still living in them, but they're not painting them, fixing things when they break, so it's kind of creepy, with hardly any people there, strange music coming from nowhere, you can feel the anticipation, everyone just waiting for everything to be taken by the sea. If you've seen the Phones4u advert, you'll get the idea of the atmosphere...!

See how close the houses are to the edge. At least one of those is no longer there

1986... 2006

...

See the line of houses that's disappeared off the cliff edge? Seems a bit strange building there anyway, the cliffs are just made of compacted sand and a little bit collapses every time the tide comes in!

Pete's still in Norwich so I've got the house to myself until Sunday. I'm going to watch a film now (that reminds me, I've got to update a couple of my film lists in my '101 things...' list. Tomorrow it's pole dancing, Wednesday I was going to see Incendiary at the cinema, but it seems they've decided not to show it and I can only actually find 12 cinemas in the entire country that are showing it, the closest one 40 miles away. I'm very disappointed, I've been looking forward to this for a long long time, now I'm going to have to wait until it comes out on DVD. Ewan had better choose a good film soon or people are going to lose their faith in him and not choose him for big parts any more. I think Star Wars Episode III was his last really successful film, and Incendiary is his 8th film since then, not good! I reckon Angels and Demons might be a big one because everyone seems to love Dan Brown for some reason, but he only has a small part in that. Apart from that there's Amelia and I Love You Phillip Morris due for release, with The Men who Stare At Goats currently being filmed. To be honest I can't see any of those being really huge, it's worrying!

I'll stop ranting now. My point is that I have Wednesday evening free, Thursday I'm going to Abi's house, Friday is Simon and Bee's Hallowe'en party and on Sunday we're going to Alton Towers and I've offered to drive; let's see how my baby car holds up with four people in it!
